Baby Cot

A baby cot is a type of crib for a young child that completely surrounds the child in protective barriers so that the child is safe even upon waking without direct supervision.  There are a great variety of baby cots available on the internet or in your local store.  A baby cot can come in almost any style or with a variety of functions available for home use.  Some baby cots can have a fold down or lowering side gate that helps in the removal of children from the cot.  Others have netting along the outside edges for added protection, keeping the baby from getting its head or legs and arms stuck in the side bars.
One of the most important decisions you have to make in a baby cot is the style of the cot.  After all it is a piece of furniture and it has to fit into the room.  There are a variety of materials available for the baby cot.  It ranges from metal beams to plastic to wooden baby cots.  The wooden are often the higher quality and offer the best features as far as the cots go.  All of these come in a variety of colors from white to black to different wood stains to accompany every room.

The cot is for protecting your child when it is asleep so the functionality of the cot is of utmost importance.  Things like folding or sliding gates can be convenient but they can unintentionally open with the weight of a toddler.  Make sure the assembly is of quality make before purchase.  Also make sure that the bar placement on the outside is narrow enough so that your baby does not get stuck in the cot’s exterior.  If you already have a cot but the bars are too far apart, there are nets that can be purchased for most cots.  Also try not to over clutter the inside of the baby cot. Much of the time the child spends in the baby cot will be unsupervised, so you do not want to have anything that can gat tangles around the baby or that the baby can choke on when they are in the cot alone, after all, babies rarely stay asleep for long.
When it comes to bedding in a baby cot, they are mostly standard size, therefore most mattresses and bedding will fit into any cot, however to be on the safe side, consult the size chart on the baby cots to make sure that all bedding and accessories fit snuggly into the baby cot.
